"We have had several devotional books over the years, and this is by far the best children's devotional we have ever had! We've never had a devotional to open as much discussion from our children as this one has. The author addresses topics in such as way to get little ones thinking and really involved. This little book has brought true bonding time with our children, where they have openly shared their hearts. It addresses questions they will have about God at some time or another. What better time to address it than when they are still young and open? I highly recommend this book to anyone who has small children or grandchildren." Nicole
"I was recently given a 1957 edition of this book...mine does not have colorful pages to look at for my 2, 4, and 8 year olds BUT I have never had such quality devotional time with my children. I am a Bible scholar/teacher and it is apparent in this devotional that the author not only understands his audience but also loves the subject matter...the doctrines of our faith! These are NOT BIBLE STORIES...they are BIBLE DOCTRINAL TEACHING for CHILDREN. Even my four year old participates and is able to easiliy comprehend the difficult concepts such as ONLY ONE GOD / THE TRINITY...WHERE DID GOD COME FROM?...IF WE CANNOT SEE GOD, HOW CAN WE KNOW HE IS ALIVE?...THE ORIGIN OF SIN...WHO IS SATAN?...WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE ASK JESUS TO BE OUR SAVIOR...WHAT IF WE SIN AFTER WE ARE SAVED?...HOW DO WE KNOW THE BIBLE IS TRUE? Some of these questions most adult believers have difficulties answering...but ask my kids, they learned them fom this book...it is truly a TIMELESS TREASURE from Jehovah!" Kentucky
"Devotions is a series of small chapters (most are three pages) that teach children everything they need to know to have faith and why. They learn God's love for us, Jesus' mission and forgiveness by the cross. They are taught characteristic behaviors for Christian living. Simple examples at the end of each chapter illustrate the chapter's point and make it easy for a child to apply the teaching to his own life. Devotions offers scriptural references to support the chapter's teaching. It provides questions at the end of the chapter to reinforce the lesson. My children have delighted in their learning. It is sensible to them.....not a tremendous unfathomable mystery. My nine-year-old at times will take the lead and read to his younger siblings. A very simplistic perspective encourages young learners!" CS
"It doesn't get any better than this. We used this as a daily devotional for our home education. It was so good I purchased a copy for my mom [she is in her 80's!]. My 1st grade daughter loved it, I loved it and plan to do it again during the summer. It covers all the major points of salvation and our relationship with God and Christ." Barbara

Devotions for the Children's Hour
Prepare your children to stand strong in this age of questions and contradictions.
David and Goliath. Noah and the ark. Jonah and the whale. Children love stories of Bible characters. Yet they need more than just the stories. They need a solid doctrinal foundation. They need to understand the truths that lie behind these stories. Truth that will answer tough questions such as: Who is God?, What if I’m a Christian and I still sin?, What does God want me to do?, Why did Jesus have to die?, How will I know if others love Jesus?
For many years, Ken Taylor has been giving children this biblical foundation through his books. While containing profound truth, they are written in simple and plain language that kids can understand.
Full of stories and straight talk and complete with suggested Bible reading, questions for thought, relevant prayers, and songs to sing, Devotions for the Children’s Hour will give your children the head start they need to stand on the Rock of Salvation in this shaky world. |
